We have been so fortunate to have our school psychologist, Mrs. Bates, come and visit us on Tuesday afternoons! She has been spending time getting to know each student and presenting lessons on such things as feeling identification, social thinking, and self-regulation. Two weeks ago she read the book “The Way I Feel” by Janan Cain and students colored a body outline (or a gingerbread man as they called it) to demonstrate where they feel certain feelings in their bodies. Last week, she introduced The Incredible Flexible You Social Thinking Curriculum. This curriculum aims to help students become problem solvers as well as develop students flexible social thinking. Below are pictures of students showing and sharing their thoughts to a sing-along in class.

All About Mrs. SpidleHello Nathaniel Morton families! My name is Mrs. Spidle and this is my third year teaching at Nathaniel Morton Elementary. Before I joined the fabulous team at NMES, I taught first grade at Federal Furnace for three years and kindergarten for six years at Sacred Heart. I love working with children and believe in cementing their love for learning at a young age. I have an undergraduate degree in early childhood education and a master's degree in reading education. As an early childhood educator, I love teaching all subjects, but my first love is reading! I believe in cultivating a love of reading in all of my students. I love to read, and am on a mission to have a community of motivated readers in my classroom! Archives
