Students have been busy during reading and writing workshop! Below you will find pictures of students reading some of their 'old storybook favorites' during partner read. Additionally, you will find pictures of students during writing workshop as they practice their sketching of the human face (Mrs. Magaw was our fabulous model!).

Every Friday, we play math games! Usually these games consist of games students have already learnt from our math program Everyday Math. These games strengthen students' foundational math skills in a fun way! Students began math games this week by familiarizing themselves with some of the math manipulatives that they will be using throughout the school year, such as dominoes, cubes, and attribute blocks.
I am so excited to start a new year with my kindergarteners! I can say with confidence that we are off to a great start, and I feel so thrilled to be working with such a wonderful and smart group of kiddos.
If you have not had a call from me yet, stay close to your phone! I am working my way through my list of families to check in and see how everyone's first few day of kindergarten have gone so far. Please feel free to reach out to me through a note, email or phone call anytime you have a question, concern, or just want to make me aware of something. I truly believe in an open line of communication between home and school to ensure a successful year. Below you will see some pictures from the start of our school year - what the classroom looked like when I arrived, what it looks while students are engaging in centers and purposeful play, and during a lesson with our school psychologist, Miss Fitz and our school speech therapist, Mrs. McClain. Enjoy! |
All About Mrs. SpidleHello Nathaniel Morton families! My name is Mrs. Spidle and this is my third year teaching at Nathaniel Morton Elementary. Before I joined the fabulous team at NMES, I taught first grade at Federal Furnace for three years and kindergarten for six years at Sacred Heart. I love working with children and believe in cementing their love for learning at a young age. I have an undergraduate degree in early childhood education and a master's degree in reading education. As an early childhood educator, I love teaching all subjects, but my first love is reading! I believe in cultivating a love of reading in all of my students. I love to read, and am on a mission to have a community of motivated readers in my classroom! Archives
