Over the past few weeks students have been participating in book clubs during reading workshop. Students first worked in non-fiction book clubs, then across genres book clubs, and finally character book clubs. Each book club has had a different genre focus, as well as different teaching points to help students delve deeper into texts. However, each book club encourages students to "read, think and wonder" independently, and then again with their peers through discussions. Below are pictures of students creating posters about their non-fiction topics with their book club members. Enjoy!

All About Mrs. SpidleHello Nathaniel Morton families! My name is Mrs. Spidle and this is my third year teaching at Nathaniel Morton Elementary. Before I joined the fabulous team at NMES, I taught first grade at Federal Furnace for three years and kindergarten for six years at Sacred Heart. I love working with children and believe in cementing their love for learning at a young age. I have an undergraduate degree in early childhood education and a master's degree in reading education. As an early childhood educator, I love teaching all subjects, but my first love is reading! I believe in cultivating a love of reading in all of my students. I love to read, and am on a mission to have a community of motivated readers in my classroom! Archives
